Snowball Classic 2015

Snowball Classic is one of the premier dance events in Canada and attracts some of the best dancers in the world.  This year, it also hosted the under 21 World Standard Championships and World Cup 10 Dance.  

We defended our title for the 3rd time and It is also our 3rd year in a row receiving the top BC couple award sponsored by Andy and Wendy Wong. 

Snowball Classic is always a special event for us as we met and tried out for the very first time at Snowball 2007.  We also are very honored to be the liaison in inviting top European couples to our home town to compete every year.

European Master Game 2015

Competing in the European Master Games in Nice was an experience of a lifetime.  On Friday, we competed in the World Cup and finished 8th.  On Saturday, it was the first ever European Master Games Senior 1 Championship, and we missed the final (Top 6) by 1.36 points!  It was also the first time the new judging system was used for senior events.  The new judging system is definitely more detail, informative and objective which would benefit all dancers.  

Even tho we did not make the final, we were very happy with how we danced.  5 of the 6 finalists are top 12 in the world, and it was a thrill to dance with such amazing dancers and competitors.  Thanks to the organizing committee and to all the volunteers who made this a world class event!

Luxembourg Open 2015

To win a competition is an amazing feeling.   This was our second time competing in the Luxembourg Open Championships.  We danced 3 rounds and won all 5 dances in the final.  We share this victory with our amazing coaches and support team.  We love you Paolo​, Silvia​ and Domenico​

The highlight of the day was not winning the competition, it was the ovation we received from spectators and dancers when we were walking off the floor after the awards ceremony.  It was unexpected and heartwarming, and it made us feel very proud and honored to be part of this Dancesport community.  We could tell they were truly happy for us, and it is a moment we will never forget.  Thanks to everyone who cheered for us and made this day so special.

World Championship 2015

The World Championships were held in Prague, Czech Republic this year.  It was our 2nd time proudly representing Canada.  The top 2 from each country are invited. After dancing 4 rounds against 50 couples from 29 counties, we placed 20th in the World Championships.  We were very happy to be among some of the best dancers in the world!

It was one of the happiest competitions for us, not because of the results, but because we felt very fortunate to be part of this amazing experience.  The venue, at the elegant Lucerna Palace, was packed and the cheering was deafening which made us feel like we were at a rock concert or a hockey game!  It was so loud that it was difficult to hear the music!  Definitely something we will never forget.

It is always a great honour to represent your country, and we are grateful for this opportunity.  Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported us over the years.  Special thanks to Paolo Bosco, Silvia Pitton, and Domenico for preparing us physically and mentally, and for pushing us to be the best that we can be.  Also, thanks to our sponsor Evolution Sport Therapy and Nature's Essence for the support.   

GOC 2015

It's amazing that it's our 5th year competing at GOC, one of the biggest and most prestigious competitions in the world.  It always draws a lot of the best dancers from around the globe.  We finished 37th out of 145 couples, which is a great result for us considering the caliber of dancers present.  Our coaches, Paolo and Silvia were very happy with our dancing and improvement in areas we have been working on.  The endless process of aiming to improve yourself is what makes dancing so challenging, but also rewarding.  

We now prepare for our World Championships in Prague on September 5th.  Wish us luck!

Show in Masi 2015

What a memorable night!  We did a big show together with our friends in Molinella, along with our legendary coaches, Paolo and Silvia.  It was a great privilege to honor them in Paolo's home town of Masi, Italy.  We were welcomed by his family into his home and you can see how important family is in contributing to their success.  

For us, it was a dream come true.  It was 10 years ago that Gloria first saw Silvia competing live in Snowball Classic and fell in love with her.  Never in a million years did we think we would be part of a show to commemorate their illustrious career in front of a full house in a lovely town in Italy.  It was great fun dancing for the warm and appreciative crowd on a night we will never forget!

Wuppertal Dancecomp 2015

What a battle!  This was our first time competing in Wuppertal, Germany, and we both agree it was the toughest competition we have ever done.  There were over 100 couples in our category so it was a big competition, drawing a lot of the best dancers.  Even from the very first round, the bar was raised and we were towered over by big tall Germans everywhere!  We didn't even know if the judges saw us enough to make if past the first round.  We fought very hard thru 4 rounds and were thrilled to finish 15th!

Lasko Open 2015

Our first competition in Europe after 3 months in Canada is the Lukec Open in Lasko, Slovenia.  Originally called the Krsko Open, this is the third new location in as many years.  We won our first international competition 2 years ago in Krsko, and this year finished 3rd. It was very hot and about 30 degrees, but we managed to survive the heat and make it on the podium.  A good start to our European competitions!

Lowcost Prato 2015

Prato is a small town in the beautiful region of Tuscany.  We competed this past Sunday here at one of the Lowcost series competitions.  It is called Lowcost because it is only 9€ for a couple to compete and free entrance for the audience which is a great way to promote the sport.  These competitions invites WDSF international judges and draws a lot of top couples.  Lowcost competitions around Italy are always held in Sport Halls, where they have nice large floors and you can really unleash your body flight.  We always have to compete in Over 16 yr category because it is the only Open to the world category.  Senior categories are closed to only Italians.  We placed 20 out of 96 couples.  Another good fight.   

Antwerp Diamond Cup 2015

This is the fourth year we compete in Antwerp, Belgium.  We travelled by plane, train, and bus and finally arrived at the hotel after 6 hours of traveling.  This year, they were holding the Senior 1 10-dance and Senior 3 Standard World Championships at Antwerp Diamond Cup. It is amazing to see how much the calibre has gone up in all the categories.  We finished top 10 out of 36 couples and were very happy with how we danced and placed.  Considering 8 out of 9 couples ahead of us ranked top 10 in the world, we think we put on a pretty good fight! #dancesport #training #competition 

First week back to Italy

back to Italy for 10 days and we already did lessons, DSI lectures, Group practice, Performance training, 2 Rambo trainings and a competition.  We competed our first competition of the year against 129 couples in over 16 year old category and placed 31!! Another goal reached! Top 25 on the WDSF ranking list, 2015

After 7 years of determination and persistence, we realized our goal of climbing to the top 25 in the world!  What a thrill and honour to finally make it on the first page of the WDSF ranking list.  What sometimes seem unattainable is made possible if you keep going forward even when you feel you are pushed back or slowed down.  Thank you to everyone who has followed us on our journey.
